The Open Science Day 2026 is already the third installment of this event at the University of Graz (following two events in 2020 and 2022) organized by the Graz Open Science Initiative. In the morning session, several speakers will map the “Landscape of Open Science”. The noon session will focus on the topic “Reproducibility and Error Culture”. In the afternoon session, three parallel workshops will engage interested researchers in diverse Open Science related topics.

The event is OPEN for EVERYONE!

The value of reproducibility and a positive error culture in science

Speakers:
Prof. Susann Fiedler (Vienna University of Economics and Business)
Dr. Jamie Cummins (University of Bern)

Large parts of science lack reproducibility and transparency: researchers often do not share their data and methods. Combined with a toxic error culture, where researchers fear reputational damage when errors are detected in their studies, this hinders scientific progress. Prof. Fiedler and Dr. Cummins will present ways out of this dilemma.

followed by an interdisciplinary panel discussion with the speakers and

Prof. Leonhard Grill (Physical Chemistry, University of Graz)
Dr. Thomas Klebel (IDea_Lab, University of Graz)
Dr. Nicki Lisa Cole (Know Center)
