Profile
The Geography Library is an important service facility for scientists and students of the Institute of of the Institute of Geography and Spatial Research. It is a public, scientific library with open access, i.e. the required media are freely accessible and can be taken from the shelves.
Collection focus
The collection focuses on human geography, geomorphology, climatic geography and applied geography as well as sustainability.
The library contains - distributed over three floors - scientific monographs, collected volumes and university publications (3rd floor), atlases, series and journals (2nd floor), as well as a large collection of maps (1st floor).
The holdings are arranged according to an internal, historically developed system. Each book has its own shelfmark, which indicates the thematic assignment (e.g.: in the shelfmark O 100 A532 the number 100 means that the book is assigned to the system unit "Austria").
An overview of the systematics is located on each floor in the area of the glass staircase.
Borrow and use media
Please take the books from the shelves yourself and borrow them at the circulation desk. Books from semester collections are located to the left of the circulation desk and can only be borrowed over the weekend or during vacations.

The circulation desk (1st floor) is barrier-free accessible, the 2nd and 3rd floor can not be reached barrier-free. Please contact the staff at the circulation desk, we will be happy to assist you.
