Borrow
To borrow books and other media, you will need a library card, which is valid all the University of Graz libraries.
You can activate this card in UNIGRAZonline for all the libraries in the Styrian library network.
Main library
To borrow a book from the main library stacks, you must order it in unikat. You will receive an e-mail notification when the ordered book is ready for you at the issue desk. Ordered books are available for pick-up for five opening days. The last pick-up is at 4 p.m. on weekdays. Please pay attention to changes to pick-up times on non-teaching days.
The textbook collection on the mezzanine level of the main library has a self-checkout desk where students can check out textbooks for 60 days.
In unikat, you can order copies of articles from periodical and newspaper volumes kept in the external depository library.
Faculty, subject and departmental libraries
The media in these libraries are freely accessible on the shelves. In unikat, you can see whether the media can be borrowed or only used on site, as well as the exact location and number of a book. If you want to borrow something (if it is allowed), take it from the shelf and check it out at the counter.
The RESOWI and Theology faculty libraries each have a self-checkout device where you can check out and return media yourself.
Loan periods and renewals
The loan period is generally 30 days but this can be longer or shorter depending on the library. You can borrow up to 25 items in total from all libraries at one time.
Extensions are possible as long as another user has not reserved the item.
