The Verfasser-Datenbank provides information about authors of German-language literature from the Middle Ages to the present day. It offers numerous search criteria to enable targeted searches by name, title, epoch, manuscript, place of publication and literature reference.
The Verfasser-Datenbank makes it possible for the first time to conduct systematic research across the following reference works:
- Die deutsche Literatur des Mittelalters - Verfasserlexikon (German literature of the Middle Ages - Dictionary of Authors)
The Verfasserlexikon presents the entire scope of German medieval literature in around 5,000 alphabetically arranged articles. A special feature is the integration and presentation of manuscript traditions and the current state of research.
The contents correspond to the 2nd revised edition, printed in 14 volumes. These volumes are also available as individual e-books. - Deutscher Humanismus 1480-1520 - Verfasserlexikon (German Humanism 1480-1520 - Dictionary of Authors)
This supplementary work covers Latin literature and scholarship in the German-speaking world between 1480 and 1520.
The printed volumes are fully integrated into the database, making them available electronically for the first time. Some volumes are also available as individual e-books. - Frühe Neuzeit in Deutschland - Literaturwissenschaftliches Verfasserlexikon (The Early Modern Period in Germany - Literary Dictionary of Authors)
These two lexicons follow on from Die deutsche Literatur des Mittelalters and Deutscher Humanismus 1480-1520 and together form the most important reference work on pre-modern literature in the German-speaking world.
The volumes are not available as stand-alone e-books but are fully integrated into the database in electronic form.
Frühe Neuzeit in Deutschland 1520-1620 (The Early Modern Period in Germany 1520-1620): Around 500 articles and several index volumes covering the period from the Reformation to the Thirty Years' War. Frühe Neuzeit in Deutschland 1620–1720 (The Early Modern Period in Germany 1620-1720): The
five-volume printed edition contains around 800 articles portraying literary forms, historical-social dynamics and intellectual debates of the period up to the early 18th century. - Killy-Literaturlexikon (Killy Lexicon of Literature)
The Killy presents bio-bibliographical articles on all significant German-language authors from the Middle Ages to the present day. The almost 8,000 articles offer synopses of an author’s biography and work, plus contemporary context. The new edition's 12 volumes and the index volume are available as e-books. The literary lexicon is also available as a separate database with numerous search and filter options.
