Eine Nachlese aus dem Projekt Buchpatenschaften

Chorherrenstift Seckau. Spätes 13. Jhdt. Sign.: Ms 474. Projektnummer: 17-2023.474

Das Missale aus dem Chorherrenstift Seckau entstand im 13. Jhdt. Die neumierte, d.h. mit mittelalterlicher Notenschrift versehene Handschrift stammt vermutlich aus Salzburg und wurde in Seckau verwendet. Das obersteirische Chorherren- und Chorfrauenstift Seckau wurde 1218 zum Zentrum des neueingerichteten Suffraganbistums der Erzdiözese Salzburg.

Der Buchblock des Messbuchs besteht aus Pergament, ist zwischen Holzdeckeln gebunden und mit Leder überzogen. Faszinierende Buchmalereien und dekorative Elemente schmücken das Missale.
