What happens when history is told not by famous names, but by the voices of those who experienced it themselves?
The Media Library of the Graz University Library allows you to discover precisely this perspective: The ORF archive provides access to the interviews with contemporary witnesses that were produced for the well-known documentaries Austria I (1981) and Austria II (1989) under the direction of Hugo Portisch.
More than 1000 interviews and around 800 hours of recordings tell not only of major decisions, but also of everyday life, hopes and fears at the time. This collection is an indispensable source for anyone interested in the culture of remembrance, social change and the question of how history continues to shape our lives today. A treasure waiting to be discovered and heard anew.
