The University of Graz licenses the wiso core modules for Economics and Social Sciences, including the respective journals and e-books, as well as references from specialist databases. In addition, University of Graz members also have access to the supplementary Business Practice module, which provides access to company and personal information, market data and various daily and weekly newspapers, including Austrian publications such as Der Standard, Die Presse, Salzburger Nachrichten, Falter and profil.
The Economics module contains full texts from around 550 specialist journals from 190 renowned publishers on topics from business administration, over 9.8 million references from economics databases (such as BEFO, BLISS, ECONIS, FinEcon, ifo and IHS), and approximately 5,500 e-books from over 20 specialist publishers.
The Social Sciences module provides full-text access to over 100 specialist journals on topics such as anthropology, educational research, politics, sociology, and social psychology. It also contains over 4.1 million references from seven leading social science databases (BLISS, DZI SoLit, IHS, SOFIS, SOLIS, SSOAR and WAO) and more than 1,400 e-books from around 15 specialist publishers. The integrated Thesaurus Sozialwissenschaften, produced by GESIS, and DZI Thesaurus, make it easier to find social science terms and expressions, as well as those in the field of social work/social pedagogy.
The content ranges from scientific literature to practical handbooks.
The search function enables you to search for specific keywords, topics, authors, or publications, and refine the results using filters (such as publication date, source, or relevance). Search results can be saved, exported or integrated into reference management programmes such as Citavi, which makes it easier to organise sources and create bibliographies.
You can save your frequent searches by clicking the ‘Monitoring einrichten’ button (click on ‘Monitorings’ in the settings menu at the top right). When new documents matching your saved searches become available, you will receive automatic email notifications. Press monitoring for specific sources, which you can set up via the table of contents on the left, can also be edited or deleted here. You can also set up monitoring for selected sources or media categories.
For users who are already familiar with WISO, there is a summary of the most important new features. If you are new to the database, a more in-depth introduction is available. The provider, Genios, has created a video, which is a good place to start. The website also offers detailed information on the search options, and the FAQs are worth reading.
You will need to register (free of charge) to use the personalisation functions. The University Library is not liable for the processing of your data by the provider.
Please pay attention to both the publisher’s and the university library’s terms of use.
The database is accessible from anywhere on campus via unikat and DBIS (switch to English at the top of the page). University members can access it remotely via VPN. Please note: enter https://univpn.uni-graz.at/ub in the VPN address field.
