The University Library Graz licences over 50 ProQuest databases (including the Alexander Street imprint) for research in the fields of US history, gender studies, sociology and ethnology, religious studies and theatre studies, as well as for case studies in engineering, the history of the video games industry and food studies.
The handy LibGuide provides a thematic overview and a list of all licenced collections (in German).
New additions for 2025:
- C19: 19th Century Index (ProQuest)
- The Far Eastern Economic Review Archive (ProQuest)
- The Gerritsen Women's History Collection of Aletta H. Jacobs (ProQuest)
- National Theatre Collection (Alexander Street)
- Performance Design Archive Online (Alexander Street)
- World Events and the Media (Alexander Street)
The ProQuest platform is an excellent gateway to database research thanks to its user-friendly interface and simple search options. You can search several collections at the same time and filter the results according to criteria such as language, document type, date, etc.
Alexander Street's database platform is specially optimised for multimedia content and offers a variety of search options. The LibGuide for the Alexander Street video platform also contains instructions on integrating the videos into Moodle.
If you want to use the personalisation functions, you need to register. This is optional and free of charge. The University Library accepts no liability for the processing of your data by the provider.
Please pay attention to both the publisher’s and the university library’s terms of use.
The databases are accessible from anywhere on campus via unikat and DBIS (switch to English at the top of the page). University members can access it remotely via VPN. Please note: enter https://univpn.uni-graz.at/ub in the VPN address field.
