Alexander Street’s Primary Sources are curated collections of letters, speeches, newspaper articles, sermons, essays, handwritten notes, audio and film recordings, manuscripts, books and documents from contemporary witnesses. The majority of these sources were not previously accessible to the public. The contents are edited, digitised to a high standard and indexed. In most cases, the full texts are searchable.
In addition to the previously licensed databases, as of 2024, it is possible to search in:
- Contemporary Anthropology: Archaeological Fieldwork and Methods
- Engineering Case Studies Online
- Entertainment Industry Magazine Archive Collection 5: Video Gaming
- Trade and Globalization Studies Online
- News, Policy & Politics Magazine Archive
- Music Online: The Garland Encyclopedia of World Music
- Socialist & Radical Periodicals
- Theatre in Context Collection
* The ProQuest Libguides provide information on all the databases in the Primary Sources package.

The library licences the databases for the University of Graz, and they are accessible via the search portal unikat and the database information system DBIS. Please pay attention to the terms of use.
If you want to use the personalisation functions, you need to register. This is optional and free of charge. The University Library accepts no liability for the processing of your data by the provider.
The database is accessible from anywhere on campus and remotely via VPN for university members.
Please note: it is now only possible to use the Cisco AnyConnect client. If profiles are shown in the VPN drop-down menu, please select Universitaetsbibliothek. Otherwise, please enter https://univpn.uni-graz.at/ub in the VPN address field.
