Profile
The German Studies Library is an important service facility for scholars and students of the Institute of German Studies. It is a public, scientific library with open access, i.e. the required media are freely accessible and can be taken from the shelves.
Collection focus
Media on German language and literature: primary literature, scholarly monographs and collected works as well as literary journals and scholarly periodicals on topics relevant to German studies (literature and linguistics, subject didactics). The majority of the holdings are in German.
Literary works by authors from Austria and the entire German-speaking area are collected, as well as literary journals. In addition, there are research contributions on German literature from its beginnings to the present in all genres, directions and currents; literary theory as well as presentations of the history of German studies and Germanist institutions.
In the area of linguistics, theoretical, historical as well as comparative research literature on the German language (and linguistics) in its overall history from the Germanic precursors to the present is acquired.
In addition, textbooks on German as a foreign and second language are available, as well as specialized didactic literature for teaching German as a native and foreign language.
Borrow and use media
The loan period is 30 days; an independent extension in unikat is possible. Journals, loose-leaf editions, dictionaries, encyclopedias, books in semester handbooks and specially marked works are excluded from the loan period.
