Strategy 2025-2030
Mission
The University Library Graz plays a central role in shaping forward-looking and sustainable spheres of knowledge. As an academic library, we support researchers, teachers, students, and the interested public.
We acquire, catalogue and curate analogue and digital information resources for our users. In the process, we ensure that these resources are accessible and archived for the long term in order to meet future demands for knowledge.
We fulfil our social responsibility to provide free and open access to scientific research results and publications by actively promoting Open Access and Open Science and creating opportunities for research results to be published.
We are expanding our knowledge about our collections and preserving our cultural heritage by researching and digitising our historical holdings. In this way, we safeguard the items and ensure they are freely accessible worldwide.
We teach information literacy through support and training, enabling our users to develop a responsible approach to information and artificial intelligence. In doing so, we support a democratic and critical knowledge society.
By combining modern infrastructure with flexible and diverse facilities, we create quiet yet inspiring spaces for study and work that can be used for meetings and dialogue during events.
We conduct research into trends and technologies in library science and participate in collaborations and projects. Through this, our employees further develop the University Library's service portfolio and can also provide stimulus to both national and international initiatives.
As a centre for training and further education, we offer a diverse programme in the field of libraries, information, and documentation, which serves particularly to promote the expertise and professional development of our employees. In addition, our training programmes are aimed at anyone with an interest in the subject.
