Publishing journal articles and books - things to consider, traps to avoid

The publication of journal articles, book chapters and scholarly monographs all follow their own explicit and implicit rules. This workshop will discuss basic aspects of scholarly publishing and provide insights into aspects such as

• Publishing processes
• Peer review
• Criteria for quality assurance
• How to choose a journal/publisher
• How to avoid predatory publishers
• Typical elements of publishing contracts
• Open Access and Creative Commons licences
• Funder requirements (FWF etc.)
• Funding options

Participants are invited to share their experiences and ask questions about current publishing projects.
