Conditions of funding: Articles submitted to the publisher’s subscription-based journals are eligible for funding under the agreement. The corresponding author must be a member of the University of Graz at the time that the article is accepted for publication.
The corresponding author cannot be changed after the peer review process. Funding will not be provided if publishing costs are covered by research grants, from among others the FWF, ERC, FFG. The library will review the author’s eligibility for funding. The corresponding author is responsible for securing the agreement of all co-authors to Open Access publication and the related CC licence.
Sage offers the corresponding author the option of paying the reduced APCs of £200 themselves if the costs are not borne by the institution or any other funding body.
Please contact Publication Services regarding funding for publication in the publisher’s Open Access journals.
The Open Access agreement allows for publishing in the following journals: see list of titles
List of journals that are not covered by the agreement.

Workflow
Submission of articles:
Sage uses, amongst other things, the University of Graz e-mail domain to identify eligible authors. Therefore, please use your official e-mail address (@uni-graz.at) and, if possible, submit your article from the University of Graz network. Follow the University of Graz affiliation guidelines when stating which institution you belong to.
Acceptance process:
Once their eligibility for funding has been checked by the University Library, SAGE will inform the corresponding author about the opportunity to publish in Open Access at a reduced rate within the framework of the KEMÖ agreement. Please choose Open Access and “yes, make my article open access” under “payment options” on the web interface. After you see the message “no charge to you”, please choose the CC licence. The University library will settle the reduced APCs.
You must cite the funding through the University of Graz in the acknowledgements. This is the recommended wording: “The authors acknowledge the financial support by the University of Graz”.
Articles cannot be retroactively changed to Open Access, unless Sage did not identify the author as eligible for funding under the agreement.
After publication:
Your article should be entered into the University of Graz Research Portal. The platform can be accessed from your UNIGRAZonline business card or at forschungsportal.uni-graz.at. For further information as well as instructions, (German only), please see the Intranet.
In accordance with the University of Graz Open Access policy, it is recommended that university members make previously published articles available in the institutional repository unipub, as long as there is no severe legal or financial reason not to do so.
