Catholic news agency for Austria

The Austrian Catholic news agency Kathpress offers current news, press reports, informed reporting, analyses and features from the ecclesiastic world. Coverage focuses on social and family policy, bioethics, ecumenical Christianity and interreligious dialogue, as well as other topics. Articles on socially relevant questions and ecclesiastic subjects are collected into dossiers. Audio files and photos complete the package.

Using the search box on the homepage, you can search the entire Kathpress archive using various filters. This contains all reports since the mid-1980s and the synod archive.

Licensed users can request content be sent to them by email, for example:

  • “Kathpress_aktuell” – daily, up to the minute news
  • “Kathpress_info” – weekly, background reports, reviews, verbatim reports and interviews
  • “Kathpress_kompakt” – weekly, summary of the week’s most important news

You can find detailed information about the licenced content of Kathpress in DBIS.

There is a free Kathpress APP with many features, available in two versions, (iOS and Android). The Kathpress website also has a clearly laid out mobile version.

Kathpress is licenced by the University of Graz library and is available to all members of the university. Access is possible via DBIS on the campus, (without registration), or using a VPN from outside the campus.
