Covid-19

3 forms of verification - contact tracing - FFP2 mask

  • In order to use reading and study areas at the Main Library, the faculty and branch libraries, an evidence of a vaccination, a current test, or recovery from COVID-19 is required. This evidence is checked at the entrance to the various library locations. Please note that this does not only apply to the use of the reading and study areas, but to all activities on the library premises!
  • The reading and study areas can still only be used with a valid seat booking.
  • If you want to enter the library rooms without a valid seat reservation (e.g. to use the textbook collection, to make copies, etc.) you need to fill in a contact tracing form in the entrance area of the respective library location.
  • Wearing an FFP2 mask is compulsory in the corridor area. It is possible to take off the mask when sitting and studying in the library or the reading rooms.
  • Please observe the usual hygiene rules (distance, sneezing etiquette, hand hygiene).

Which locations of the University of Graz Library are currently accessible?

All locations of the University of Graz Library are open. Please note the opening hours and hygiene regulations applicable on site. To use the reading and study areas it is necessary to present a previously booked ticket (electronic or paper form) at the locations listed below:

Which courses of the University Library can I currently take?

In each semester, the University Library offers online workshops for unikat (also in English), databases and literature management with Citavi (German only). There will also be workshops organized by the Publication Services. You can find the current course offer in our events and in UNIGRAZonline under "Courses offered by the Library".

What are the current hygiene regulations to be observed when entering the premises of the University of Graz Library?

The Covid-19 traffic light of the university is currently set to yellow. Therefore, please observe the following measures:

Yes, you can access the circulation and interlibrary loan desks without booking a seat, subject to the Covid-19 measures.

How can I currently use the open access collections available on the shelves in the Main Library (course reserves, newspapers, journals and other open access holdings)?

If you wish to borrow books from faculty or branch libraries, you have to fill in a form at the entrance area of the respective library location for contact tracing reasons.

It is not necessary to book a seat.

 

How can I currently use the holdings of departmental libraries?

How can I pay outstanding overdue fees?

You can pay outstanding overdue fees at the automatic pay station in the entrance hall of the Main Library during opening hours in compliance with the Covid-19 measures.

Are reading rooms and study areas currently available at the University Library?

At all locations of the University of Graz Library reading rooms and study areas are available.

Yes, multifunctional devices and book scanners are available as usual. For contact tracing reasons, you have to fill in a form when entering the respective library location.

How can I use the Digital Globe at the Geography Library?

For the Digital Globe, half-hour time slots are available within the opening hours of the Geography Library via the seat booking system of the University of Graz Library.

Why is it necessary to book a seat at the University Library?

Due to the valid hygiene and distance regulations because of Covid-19, seats at the locations of the University of Graz Library are currently only available to a limited extent. For this reason, seats have to be booked online in advance.

Booking a seat also helps you to plan your stay at the University Library, as you can be sure in advance that you will get a study or work place at the desired location. In addition, the Covid-19 regulations of the university are thus implemented.

Moreover, evidence of a vaccination, a current test, or recovery from COVID-19 is required in order to use the reading and study areas of the library.

 

How can I book a seat at the University Library?

Seats are booked online via a booking system.

First click on the desired location in the booking system and select the desired time slot. Then you can choose from the various types of seating (e.g. PC workstation, workstation with table). There you can also see how many seats are still available in the desired time slot.

Different seating categories can be booked depending on the floor and can be freely selected within the seating category on site. At the Main Library and RESOWI Library there are seating plans with numbered seats, which can be booked individually.

After successful booking you will receive a booking confirmation. It contains a ticket with a QR code, which we ask you to present (electronic or paper form) when entering the respective library location.

How many days in advance can I book a seat?

The booking system allows you to make reservations up to 7 days in advance.

 

For which time slots can I book a seat?

The time slots depend on the opening hours of the individual library locations. You can see the time slots in the booking system after selecting the respective library location. At the Main Library, for example, there are two time slots at the moment, one in the morning from 08:30 a.m. to 13:15 p.m., one in the afternoon from 13:15 p.m. to 18:00 p.m.

 

Is it possible to book several time slots per day?

Yes, it is possible to book several slots per day.

If you do not need a booked time slot after all, we ask you to cancel your booking so that other people can have the chance to learn or work at the library. Cancellation is also possible at any time within the booked time slot if the ticket has not yet been scanned.

 

What types of seats can I book?

Seats depend on the conditions at the various library locations. You can see the different types of seats in the booking system after selecting the respective library location and the desired time slot. There you can also see how many seats are still available during the desired time slot.

For example, PC workstations, seats with a table and seats without a table are available.

 

Can I book several seats?

No, this is not possible. You can only book one seat per time slot.

 

At which library locations is it necessary to book a seat?

How do I get to my booked seat?

Please note that due to the current Covid-19 security measures at the different locations of the University of Graz Library, access to the reading areas is controlled.

In order to enter the respective library, you have to present a valid booking confirmation in the entrance area. This confirmation will be sent to the e-mail address you provided when booking your seat. It contains a QR code which is checked and scanned. You can present the QR code in printed or electronic form.

In order to use reading and study areas, evidence of a vaccination, a current test, or recovery from COVID-19 is required. University of Graz Library staff will check this evidence in addition to the seat booking when entering the reading rooms. Wearing an FFP2 mask is compulsory in the corridor area. It is possible to take off the mask when sitting and studying in the library or the reading rooms.

 

Do I have to be at the library on time at the beginning of my time slot?

No, you can come to the University Library at any time within the booked time slot.

However, if you do not need a time slot after all, we ask you to cancel your booking so that other people can have the chance to learn or work. Cancellation is also possible within the booked time window if the ticket has not yet been scanned.

 

How do I choose my seat?

You can choose the type of seating according to your needs and the number of seats still available.

First click on the desired location in the booking system and select the desired time slot. Then you can choose from the various types of seating (e.g. PC workstation, seat with table). There you can also see how many seats are still available in the desired time slot.

How can I use the information desk of the Main Library (3rd floor)?

You have to book a half-hour window via the booking system. However, you can also contact the information desk during opening hours by e-mail to ub.auskunft@uni-graz.at or by phone at +43 (0) 316/380 - 3118.

Can I cancel my seat booking?

Yes, you can cancel your seat booking before or within the booked time slot, as long as the ticket has not been scanned. You will also receive a reminder e-mail one day before your booked time slot.

 

Who can book a seat at the University Library?

Anyone with a valid e-mail address can book a seat at the University Library.

 

Can I leave the building during the booked time slot?

Yes, it is possible to leave the building within the booked time slot. However, to do so, you have to check out of the building with the security staff or at the circulation desk and check back in when you re-enter. To do this, show your ticket with the QR code and inform the security staff or circulation desk that you are coming back.

 

What if I do not need the whole time slot booked?

If you want to leave the library before the end of the booked time slot, you can do so without any problem.

If you wish to return within the booked time slot, you have to check out and check back in with the security staff or circulation desk (see Can I leave the building during the booked time slot?).
