Library center Wall

The library center is open to the public. In order to borrow books you need a library card. Most of the literature can be found in open-shelf stacks. Reference books, periodicals and documents in the reserve collection are not for loan. Throghout the library you can find notebook-work stations and WLAN-access. 

 

Trainings

Dates apply to times of lectures. Meeting point at the loan desk (Merangasse 70). Special arrangements for small group.

Emphasis of collection

Educational science: history of pedagogics, theories of education, methodology; systematic and comparative education, school education, methods, didactics, social education, social work; adult education, work and professional education, women's education and research; educational psychology; medical and special education, early childhood education, gerontology, nursing sciences; integrating sciences (psychology, sociology, philosophy, anthropology); war and peace.

 

Romance studies: all Romance languages, especially French, Italian, Spanish (including Hispano-American).
Subjects: General and Romance linguistics and literatures; fiction (in the original languages); Hispano-American women's literature; geography and culture of Romance speaking countries; instructional books; language teaching books

 

Slavonic studies: Languages: Church Slavonic; Macedonian, Bulgarian, Serbo-Croatian (Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian), Slovene; Russian, Ukrainian, Belorussian; Polish, Czech, Slovak; Kashubian, Sorbian, Polabic, Rusyn.
Subjects: General and Slavic linguistics and literature; Balkan studies (including Albanian philology); old and new texts, fiction (in the original languages); literature about Eastern and Southeastern Europe; history; culture and ethnology; religions; Austrian minorities.

 

Translation studies: Languages: Arabic, English, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Russian, Serbo-Croatian (Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian), Sign languages, Slovene, Spanish, Turkish
Subjects: dictionaries, theory of translation, sign languages.
