In this workshop (held in English) Prof. Dr. Stefan Palan, a journal editor from the Social Sciences will share his perspective and insights regarding the process of publishing in journals.
After a brief introduction on manuscript preparation for submission the workshop will focus on
- Choosing a journal
- Who is who at a journal?
- Impact (factor)
- Review process (and why it can take so long)
- Dealing with referees
- the reviewing process and how to respond to referee comments
- Trends in publishing: preregistration, data publishing, authorship vs contributorship, author order…
Prof. Palan will address how to avoid typical mistakes as an author, and will present examples, anecdotes and advice from his own experience as reader, author, referee and editor.
